Principal design researcher at Microsoft
Cindy helps companies figure out how their customers behave, the problems they need to solve, and how they make decisions.
She's the author of Lean Customer Development: Build Products Your Customers Will Buy, and a principal researcher for Microsoft's developer division. She's currently engaged in exploratory research to figure out how to win over the hearts and minds of the evolving software developer population. She also enjoys advising and coaching a variety of internal teams across Microsoft on research methods, recruiting and mentoring teams, and process change.
She believes there's nothing harder than getting people to change their behavior - but also nothing that provides as much reward and impact.
Prior to Microsoft, she held UX leadership positions in a variety of technology startups. She continues to mentor startup teams, and is a trainer for O'Reilly Media. You can follow her on twitter at: @cindyalvarez
